You probably already know that you can create interactive forms with Foxit PhantomPDF. But did you know all the options you have for controlling what happens on your form from the moment you start creating it? If not, then read on, because we’re about to cover how the form tab enables you to set the preferences of the interactive form display.

Automatically calculate field values

This option lets you specify whether to automatically perform all field calculations right after users input the entries. So if you’re creating a form that adds sales tax and set the tax rate to 7.5%, this option will automatically apply an additional 7.5% to the total for that field. This option is checked by default so you don’t have to check it if you want it but be sure to uncheck it if you don’t. The setting for the option only applies to your current session, and it will revert to the default setting after the application is restarted.

Manage Barcode Parameters

If you’re using barcodes in your form, this option lists all the decode conditions, including the seven presets. You can create, edit, remove, import, and export custom decode conditions by selecting the type of hardware to process returned forms. Foxit provides you with ready-to-use preset decode conditions. You can also click Custom to create a new decode condition.

Show focus rectangle

If you select this option, a dotted rectangle appears around a form field if the form field currently has the focus as the active field. The option is selected by default.

Show text field overflow indicator

Select this option to show the plus (+) sign if the user inputs too much text and it exceeds the bound of the field.

Always hide document message bar

You can decide whether to show or hide the document message bar that appears below the toolbar area when opening an interactive PDF form.

Highlight all fields

Checking this option allows you to highlight all form fields in the PDF document. You can click the color palette to change the highlight color to differentiate between them, such as when some are optional fields and some are required fields.

Run form recognition when creating PDF in Foxit PhantomPDF.

Foxit PhantomPDF will run form recognition automatically when you create a PDF and open it in Foxit PhantomPDF, so you can quickly turn anything that looks like a form into one.

Auto-Complete

When enabled, Foxit PhantomPDF will store your entries and provide relevant suggestions as you fill in an interactive PDF form.
