Highlights
- Automatic page labels for drawing sets: Pages get labeled with a sheet or document ID, not just a page number, making large sets easier to navigate and reorganize.
- Reusable custom symbols: Build a toolbox of inspection, revision, or QC marks once, then reuse it across projects instead of recreating it each time.
- Measurement tools built for plans: Take distance, area, perimeter, volume, polyline length, diameter, radius, and angle readings straight off a drawing.
- Sharper scans and comparisons: An updated OCR engine and more precise document comparison make scanned drawings searchable and revisions easier to track.
- Part of the same 2026.2 release: Ships alongside Local AI, Bring Your Own Model, and Foxit Workspace in Foxit PDF Editor 2026.2.
Drawing sets create problems a typical document doesn’t: pages that don’t follow a simple numbering order, symbols repeated across dozens of sheets, and measurement errors that can carry through to bidding or fabrication. Foxit PDF Editor 2026.2 adds a set of updates aimed directly at that kind of work.
The Scope of This Release
Foxit PDF Editor 2026.2 improves how large sets of technical documents get labeled, marked up, measured, scanned, and compared. These are the parts of a drawing set that create the most manual overhead once a project grows past a handful of sheets.
Automatic Page Labels for Drawing Sets
Custom page label creation now works from bookmarks or selected page regions, so labels appear alongside logical page numbers for all pages or a selected range. That means a sheet can carry its actual sheet or document ID instead of a generic page number, the way a title block already labels it. For high-volume bidding work or a large drawing set, that makes it faster to label, locate, and reorganize specific sheets.
Reusable Custom Symbols
Annotation symbols used across a drawing set, inspection marks, revision clouds, QC stamps, don’t need to be recreated for every project. This release lets a team create, import, export, and manage toolboxes of frequently used symbols, stored in the Favorite Toolbox panel for quicker access. Build the set once, and it’s available on the next project too.
New Measurement Tools
New measuring tools cover Volume, Polyline Length, Diameter, Center Radius, 3 Point Radius, and Angle, on top of the standard distance, area, and perimeter tools already in the editor. Compatibility with measurement annotations created in other PDF applications is also improved, so a measurement made in a different tool still reads correctly once it lands in Foxit PDF Editor.
OCR and Comparison Improvements
A drawing set often arrives as a mix of native files and scanned pages. An upgraded OCR engine improves recognition reliability and strengthens component security, turning scanned drawings and mixed-content pages into searchable, selectable text. Document comparison also improves in this release, with cross-page text comparison support and a clearer display of results, so tracking exactly what changed between two versions of a drawing set takes less manual cross-checking.
Best Fit for These Updates
These updates are built for architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and supplier teams working with large sets of technical documents, plans, specs, and drawing sets where page order, reusable markup, and precise measurement matter more than they do in a typical business document.

Common AEC FAQ
Do I need a separate tool for measurements, or is this built into the editor?
Measurement tools are built into Foxit PDF Editor directly. No separate plugin or export step is required to take a Volume, Polyline Length, Diameter, Center Radius, 3 Point Radius, or Angle reading.
Can I reuse my annotation symbols across different projects?
Yes. Toolboxes of frequently used symbols can be created, imported, exported, and managed from the Favorite Toolbox panel, so a set built for one project carries over to the next.
Does automatic page labeling work on drawing sets I’ve already created?
Yes. Custom page labels can be created from bookmarks or selected page regions on any PDF, including existing drawing sets, not just new ones.
Will measurement annotations from other PDF tools still work correctly?
Compatibility with measurement annotations created in other PDF applications has been improved in this release.
How does the OCR update affect scanned drawings?
The upgraded OCR engine improves recognition reliability, turning scanned drawings and mixed-content pages into selectable, searchable text.
These AEC-focused updates are available now in Foxit PDF Editor 2026.2, part of the same release bringing Local AI, Bring Your Own Model, and Foxit Workspace into the platform. Try them on a drawing set you already have open, or explore Foxit PDF Editor to see how they fit into your team’s workflow.
