Describe what you need in plain language, and Foxit AI Assistant determines whether it's a direct edit or an analysis and responds accordingly.
Smart Commands directly edit your PDF by executing specific actions, like redacting text, rotating pages, or extracting content. Prompts, on the other hand, are used in the AI Chat panel to get information, summaries, or suggestions—they don’t make changes to your file.
No. The AI Assistant in Foxit PDF Editor+ accepts everyday language in AI Chat, so you don’t need to memorize a command or match an exact phrase. Describe the result you want, such as “redact all Social Security numbers on this page” or “convert this document to Word,” and AI Assistant interprets the request and runs the matching Smart Command or prompt.
An effective prompt names the action, the document content involved, and the output you want. Adding details about scope, tone, format, or page range helps AI Chat return a more relevant response, or helps AI Assistant match the correct Smart Command. For example: “Summarize pages 3–7 in five bullet points for an executive audience.”
No—your privacy is a priority. Document content uploaded to Foxit AI is encrypted and temporarily cached for up to 48 hours to improve performance, then permanently deleted. Foxit does not store your documents long-term or share your data with third parties.
