Foxit Delivers Dynamic Security Watermarks in Reader, PhantomPDF, and PDF Security RMS Protector

New Releases Enhances Protection of PDF Documents

FREMONT, Calif. - May 3, 2012 - Foxit® Corporation, a leading provider of solutions for reading, editing, creating, organizing, and securing PDF documents, today announced new releases of the Foxit Reader, Foxit Enterprise Reader, Foxit PhantomPDF™, and PDF Security RMS Protector which provide support for dynamic security watermarks.

Dynamic Security Watermarks

Documents that are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) solutions are still at risk of being compromised by users copying confidential information through mechanisms such as screen shots, cameras, and video capture.  Dynamic security watermarks automatically display viewer identity information on protected PDF files. Viewer identity information can include the person’s name, email, employee ID, and the time/date that they are displaying the protected PDF document. With this watermark, if copies of the protected documents are found, the identity of the person responsible for the confidential information leak will be displayed. This increases document security by discouraging information leaks due to the increased probability of getting discovered.

Foxit PhantomPDF allows users to create professional PDF documents and forms quickly, affordably, and securely. PhantomPDF includes an extension to Microsoft® Active Directory® Management Services (AD RMS) to provide security policy protection to PDF files in desktop environments. PhantomPDF 5.2 has been enhanced to allow PDF document owners to insert dynamic security watermarks into AD RMS protected PDF documents.

Foxit PDF Security RMS Protector delivers cost effective PDF security policy protection to any business running AD RMS. PDF Security RMS Protector seamlessly extends AD RMS to provide policy protection to PDF documents in SharePoint® and Exchange® environments. PDF Security RMS Protector 2.1 enhanced these capabilities by supporting dynamic security watermarks.

Foxit Reader is a small, fast, and feature rich PDF viewer which allows you to open, view, and print any PDF file. Unlike other free PDF readers, Foxit Reader also includes easy to use collaboration features like the ability to add annotations to PDF, fill out PDF forms, and share information with social networks. Foxit Reader is AD RMS-aware, meaning users providing correct credentials can access AD RMS protected PDF files based on their defined permissions. Foxit Reader 5.3 provides support to display dynamic security watermarks to AD RMS protected PDF documents.

Foxit Enterprise Reader is a version of the Foxit Reader designed to meet the PDF viewing needs of enterprise and government organizations. Enterprise Reader contains numerous PDF customization options making it easier to deploy across a large amount of users. Like Foxit Reader, Enterprise Reader 5.3 is AD RMS-aware and supports dynamic security watermarks.

"Foxit PDF solutions have become mission critical in many large enterprise and government organizations," said Frank Kettenstock, VP of Marketing at Foxit. "Therefore Foxit will continue to be a leader in ensuring the security of PDF documents containing confidential information to adhere to governmental and corporate compliance regulations."
